USES FOR EGGSHELLS FOR EASTER/SPRING
03/30/2023We go through eggs like candy at our house. Luckily we have a friend that regularly drops off farm fresh eggs. With an abundance of tasty eggs and pretty eggshells, I put the shells to good use after the eggs were demolished.
Eggshells can be used as a pot for planting pansies. Gently separate a small pansy stem and remove most of the dirt from the roots until the plant will fit into the eggshell. Water lightly daily so the plants stay hydrated.
Empty eggshells can be used as a vase for fresh flowers. Just fill with water and add small stems.
Another popular trick is to make DIY candles inside of eggshells. Take a tea light candle, remove the wick. Using a small glue dot on the bottom of the wick, secure the wick to the bottom of an eggshell. Melt the votive in a disposable paper cup in the microwave, stirring after 30-second intervals until melted. Pour melted wax into an eggshell and let cool until wax has hardened.
I filled an antique sugar mold with moss and nestled the eggshells into the holes.
I also added my eggshell vases and candles to an old paper egg tray filled with moss and feathers. Simple, nearly free decor that I used for this year’s spring/Easter tablescape which I’ll be sharing here soon.
