TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH BOOKS
06/19/2023I’m more apt to read a home interior book or a book about house plants than a romance novel. The good thing about that is, once I’ve read them, I can then use them around the house as decor because they are so pretty. Let’s walk around and I’ll show you my collection.
Here’s a stack on a little side table next to a chair in the family room. The side table was a necessity for drinks. The books, a faux plant (doesn’t have to be real), a cute coaster and a throw blanket on the back of the chair dress up the scene.
More books stacked on an antique table near my favorite reading spot in the front room.
Stacked on the bottom shelf of the sofa table topped with a diffuser.
Displayed open on an acrylic book stand.
Don’t have any home decor books? Put those smutty romance novels to good use by stacking them with the pages forward. No one will know your dirty little secret. This is a good trick for random thrifted books. Look for covers in coordinating or neutral colors.
I use my collection of houseplant books as risers for my houseplants and decor.
I have a couple of cocktail recipe books that make the rounds on the dining room hutch and the bar cart.
I’ve shared before how I incorporate my cookbooks as frugal decor in the kitchen.
To sum it up, books are a great hobby and can work double-duty around the house when you’re done reading. Stack them and use them as risers for pretty tchotchkes, line them on bookshelves spine out or pages out, display a collection in a wire basket, place a stack on a stool and top with a plant. Now go find your old books and put them to good use.
