THRIFTED THURSDAY | DIY GARDEN SCARECROWS
09/14/2023We have a new addition to the garden scarecrow family. Joining Lady Scarecrow from last year is Mr. Jack Crow. Both are outfitted with thrifted clothing and looking dapper adorning the garden beds.
Jack Crow is a small fellow wearing a button-up shirt and 29×30 jeans held up by a rope belt.
Lady Scarecrow is a petite thing wearing her same outfit from last year which held up great in the weather.
We used scrap 1″x2″ boards screwed together to make our scarecrows in the general dimensions shown below. Cut a “V” on the bottom of the stake to make it easier to stick in the ground. Be sure not to make the arms too long so the shirt won’t fit over the form. (Learned that the hard way.) I stapled the clothes to the form and stapled on a few bunches of raffia for hair and hands.
Hopefully Mr. & Mrs. Crow do their jobs and scare the deer away now that they have completely destroyed my gorgeous, full garden. Notice how everything down low is gone on my arches?
