Yes, it’s the unofficial beginning of summer and I could not be happier. But, let us remember the true reason for the holiday. Thank you to all who gave their lives for our freedom and bless those that have and continue to serve. We honor you today and always.

It’s also officially red, white and blue season with Memorial weekend, then flag day on June 15th and finally the 4th of July just over a month away. The flags are proudly flying at our house and barn.

I typically like to switch things up with my decor each year but two things never change in the summer – my front porch ferns with the American flags tucked in.

I tend to go with whites, pinks and purple flowers for the summer. But this year I added red for the summer holidays. What do you think? Are the geraniums real or faux?

From the road and sidewalk, you would never know the geraniums are fake. Now I will have them to put out year after year and it won’t cost me a thing extra. For those that aren’t a fan of watering, I highly recommend going with the real-look faux options. Last year I tried faux hanging baskets. This year it’s the faux geraniums.

Everything else on the porch is 100% real and thriving on the shaded porch.
