I wanted to make an outdoor table centerpiece this summer. I had an old terracotta bowl I hadn’t used in years that was the perfect size for what I had in mind. Knowing small planters dry out quickly in the summer heat, I opted for a succulent bowl since succulents tolerate dry conditions better than most annual flowering plants. They can be overwintered and brought back out the next year, as well.

I picked up a few varieties of succulent plants at the nursery. Once securely planted in the bowl, I sat the bowl in a clear plastic drip tray to keep the table clean while helping keep the plants watered at the same time. Then I sat the bowl and drip tray inside a grapevine wreath. Finally, I wrapped the rest of the bowl with a grapevine garland for a fun rustic look.
