GRAPEVINE WREATH BIRD FEEDER

Next in the series of homemade bird treats is this bird feeder made from a grapevine wreath. It is beautiful to look at and even more fun when the birds stop by for a treat. This is one of my favorite DIYs. Begin with the cheapest 10″ grease splatter screen you can find. I spray painted mine brown so it would blend in with the grapevine wreath. Next top with a 10″ grapevine wreath and secure the two together with floral wire. Tie on three pieces of jute for a hanger. Decorate with natural items. I collected things from around the yard – a few sprigs of yew and pine, dried gum balls and oranges I dried in the oven – simply tucked into the wreath. Fill the feeder with bird-friendly treats. I added bird seed, apple slices, unsalted peanuts, plain popcorn, raisins, dried cranberries and peanut suet nuggets....

We are almost through the first month of the year. My mouth is watering for homegrown heirloom tomatoes and corn on the cob. Summer can’t get here soon enough for me. In the meantime, here are my hearty comfort food dinner ideas for this week. All very simple ending with a little extra effort on Friday. In all honesty, Friday will most likely be bringing dinner home after work and I’ll make Friday’s meal on the weekend when I have more time. Here’s to a good week ahead for all doing what we can to make it through.
