4TH OF JULY STAR FRUIT PIZZA COOKIES

When I think of the 4th of July, I think of sun, heat, mosquitos (these are good memories), fresh fruit, ice cream, fireworks, etc. I thought these adorable fruit pizza cookies fit right into all things Independence Day. My daughter actually made these cookies this past weekend. She used a decorator sugar cookie recipe for the base which has a nice hint of almond. Then she spread on a layer of cream cheese/sugar mixture and finished off the patriotic star cookies with fresh blueberries and strawberries slices. I think they are the cutest cookies. She did well! Now if I can just get her to make more next weekend so I can take them to holiday festivities.

TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH BOOKS

I’m more apt to read a home interior book or a book about house plants than a romance novel. The good thing about that is, once I’ve read them, I can then use them around the house as decor because they are so pretty. Let’s walk around and I’ll show you my collection. Here’s a stack on a little side table next to a chair in the family room. The side table was a necessity for drinks. The books, a faux plant (doesn’t have to be real), a cute coaster and a throw blanket on the back of the chair dress up the scene. It’s flag day which makes it a fitting day to show you my current dining room decor. If you follow me on Instagram stories, you might remember me sharing the milk glass vase collection I started after finding quite a few at local antique stores and Goodwills. I thought I had plenty but looking at these photos, I feel like I need more. I already know what I’m going to do with them next. The branches are the same ones I used on my tablescape last Halloween.
