Day seven of this year’s holiday home tour takes us to the master bedroom. We haven’t touched this room since we moved in. It’s pieced together with various furniture pieces leftover from our previous home until we are able to do the full makeover I have dreamed up in my head. That doesn’t stop me from making it Christmas cozy. There’s nothing better than falling asleep to the glow of the Christmas tree. I normally have a bundle of faux mistletoe above this sign but I couldn’t find it in any of my Christmas bins this year. I looked through each of them no less than three times and never found it. Where on earth could it be? So, I added the bow, instead. Christmas tree lights combined with frankincense in the diffuser makes for magical bedtimes. All Christmas items from our last home that still work perfectly here....

Welcome to stop five on this year’s holiday home tour. Today we’re visiting the dining room/front room. This space used to be divided into two small rooms and an entry walkway. Now it’s one big open space that welcomes in all who stops by. The first thing you’ll notice is the entry table which features a watercolor Santa painted by my grandma and a bowl of candy canes, disco balls and Christmas cards received from family and friends. Then we have the main Christmas tree. It’s the perfect spot to cuddle up next to the sparkly tree and read a good book on a snowy day. The holiday drink cart is so very merry. Moving on in to the dining room you’ll find lots of plants. It’s the brightest, sunniest spot in the house. Various Target Dollar Spot village pieces collected over the years are tucked into the plant...

DIY Velvet Hair Bows
12/14/2023
Velvet hair bows are all the rage right now. Who remembers way back in the day when I made hair bows for my daughter which then turned into a little business selling fancy hair bows on Ebay? It’s like riding a bicycle after all these years. I pulled out my ribbon stash and made a collection my own velvet bows in about 10 minutes. I used 1″ velvet ribbon but type of ribbon and any size 1/4″ up to 3″ will work. Here is a little video of me in action making a bow. That is all there is to making your own DIY hair bows.
