MY FAVORITE DRUGSTORE MAKEUP
06/13/2023On the days I work from home, I still tend to slap on a little war paint in the event I get a random video call. Those days at home, I usually wear my drugstore favs and save the expensive stuff for office days. I thought I would share a few of my tried and true drugstore makeup options that I’ve used for years.
Not pictured above because I’m currently out is the NYX primer + setting spray. I like that it does double-duty as primer before makeup and a setting spray after. Under $9.
I swear by this Infallible Pro-Glow foundation and have for years, even as my skin ages. It has good coverage and stays on my skin well throughout the day. My twenty-something daughter likes this foundation, as well. Under $12.
I also use the Infallible Pro-Glow concealer.
I like that this NYX tinted eyebrow mascara both tints the stray white hairs in my eyebrows and helps glue them in place where I want them. It takes no time at all to apply. Under $9.
I typically don’t care for eyeliner pencils that have to be sharpened but this Elf satin black eyeliner pencil comes with a sharpener in the cap and applies smoothly for only $3.
I’m a sucker for pretty eyeshadow palettes. This elf palette is quite pigmented for inexpensive makeup and the colors are so pretty. Considering palettes of this size can cost around $50, this one for under $9 is a bargin.
And finally, my favorite lip gloss of any brand at any price. I’m not really a lipstick person. I much prefer a tinted lip gloss. NYX butter gloss is my go to every day. I have all the different colors but Creme Brulee (a nice neutral color, not bright coral as it shows in the photo below) and Eclair (a nice pink) are my favs. Under $5.
NYX and Elf are two inexpensive brands that I feel have surprisingly good makeup options. You’ll notice I don’t have a favorite drugstore mascara or blush. In my opinion, most any blush works fine. I personally use the Sephora Collection blush a lot. I’ve never found a cheaper mascara I really like. I stick with my Lancome Idole Lash daily which isn’t cheap but I like for my mini lashes. I am certainly no makeup pro. Honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing. These are just items I tend to use often in my day to day routine at home.
