Super Bowl champions again! Yay, Chiefs!
I fully intended to have this post up before the big game but things didn’t completely come together until 5 minutes after people arrived. I made everyone wait to dig in to the food so I could get a few photos. The lighting wasn’t ideal but I’m just glad I was able to get some photos of this year’s Super Bowl party decorations and food.
As with any holiday or yearly party, most of what I decorate with are things I’ve collected over the years. I typically buy one or two things new each year to add to my collection and the rest is recycled. For example, the foam footballs are from last year’s party. The confetti is from last year’s AFC championship game that I now use for decoration. I stuck them in glass vases with twinkle lights, made a felt pennant using my Cricut and it all became party decoration.
This year I decorated the living room, too, with my DIY Taylor Swift friendship bracelet inspired banner.
I got this flag for a donation a few years ago. The football was my son’s and the pom poms are my aunt’s pom poms from high school that I used to play with when I was a kid. Now I use them for decoration.
The dining room is where I have fun with a football tablescape that, luckily, has been decorated in Chiefs red and gold for four out of the last five years. This year I added black and white striped place mats in honor of the referees and made the kraft paper runner and the DIY cork football coasters. Everything else was reused from last year’s tablescape.
I made this cute goal post from dowel rods, hot glue and craft paint and made the banner with my Cricut. That thing is so handy!
My new purchase this year was the Chiefs helmet. It’s just a kids play helmet that came with a jersey from Amazon. I figured I could use it for decoration now and if I ever have grandkids, they can play with the set. Totally justifies my purchase, right?
Everyone chose a Chiefs friendship bracelet to wear and take home after the game.
Here is the table as everyone was gathered round waiting on me to take photos so they could eat. The cinnamon streusel dessert pizza was my favorite.
Anything that I could turn into a football, I did.
That can of popcorn that never got opened from Christmas was meant to be saved for the Super Bowl. The colors couldn’t have been more perfect. The dessert snacks were all red and gold.
The team colored puppy chow is always a hit. I made it previously for college family weekend tailgating.
Did I mention, if it could be turned into footballs, I did? Honey roasted almonds turned footballs with a little cookie icing.
I LOVE an excuse to have a party. I’ve already got ideas for next year’s party that I wasn’t able to get to this year. It was a great evening turned even better watching the Chiefs with the Super Bowl again. Hoping they are back for a third straight year so I can keep adding to my decorations.
