IRISH SODA BREAD | PATRICK’S DAY
03/13/2023This week I have a few simple recipes for St. Patrick’s Day to share before the big day. We all know of corned beef and cabbage. How about a fresh baked loaf of Irish soda bread to go with it? It is an extremely easy bread to make from scratch because is rises using baking soda rather than yeast and requires no rising time. If you’re afraid of attempting homemade bread, give this recipe a try. You won’t even need the luck ‘o the Irish for it to turn out.
The recipe is very simple using a stand mixer with a bread hook attachment but can also easily be mixed by hand.
Raisins can also be added to the dough, if desired. I’m going to try that next time for a little touch of sweetness.
Decorative shamrocks were made from spinach leaves and cut out with mini shamrock cookie cutters.
