DIY HALLOWEEN LED WEREWOLF
10/02/2023A new addition this year for Halloween at the barn is this scary but cool werewolf. By day he looks like simple a black cutout against the barn.
By night, this 8-foot werewolf comes to life.
Typically I’m a white light person but he looks awesome switching from color to color as it reflects on the barn greeting those leaving the neighborhood up the hill.
The werewolf was a fun and fairly simple DIY project. I purchased a template from BarberellaHome.com. Using the template, we cut the werewolf from a 4′ x 8′, 1/2″ thick sheet of plywood using a jigsaw.
I painted the front side black, the backside white to help reflect the light and then sealed the wood since it will be outside. We secured LED light tape to the white (back) side. Regular Christmas light strands can be used, as well, but I preferred the variety of lighting options with the LED strip lights.
Finally, we attached him to the barn using 2″x4″ blocks as spacers to set him off the barn and hooks and eye bolts to secure.
My favorite thing is finding holiday decor that is unique and different from everyone else’s. I love the way he turned out and I hope he brings a little bit of Halloween joy to those driving by.
