I am not a coffee drinker. *gasp* Maybe I could be convinced if I loaded it with cream and sugar until I couldn’t taste the coffee flavor anymore. But cream and sugar multiple times daily is the absolute last thing I need so I don’t even try it. However on the rare occasion I do want a hot drink, I go for this copycat Starbucks recipe. Yes, it’s still loaded with sugar and whipped cream but it tastes way better than coffee in my opinion. For those of you that agree with me, keep scrolling for the recipe. A printable option is at the bottom of this post.
Several years ago I bought the cinnamon dolce syrup straight from Starbucks for my copycat recipe. Since I only make this drink once or twice each fall, mine has lasted forever. I don’t see an expiration date on it, it hasn’t killed me yet and it wasn’t cheap so I’m still using it. But from what I understand, Torani Brown Sugar Cinnamon Syrup is a cheaper option if you don’t want a large bottle of the Starbucks syrup. You can also make your own version of the syrup with brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, water and vanilla.
Because I’m not normal and can’t just live with the plastic bottle the cinnamon dolce syrup came in, I put mine into this cute glass pump bottle that I keep next to our coffee station even though no one in our household drinks coffee. But isn’t it cute?
I actually prefer my caramel apple spice without the whipped cream and caramel sauce. I like to think it cuts down on the calories and sugar so it’s not as bad for me. Just to ignore the large amount of sugar in the cider.
