Since we were sprucing up the bedside table yesterday, I thought today I would reminisce about the time back in 2018 when we built a bed. It’s still the same one we use today.

You’ll notice the bedding was blue. You see, back in 2018 I was hopeful it wouldn’t be long until we updated our bedroom. So I purchased blue bedding when we upgraded from a queen to a king bed. I had visions of a navy blue accent wall behind the bed. It’s now 2023. The walls are still the same green as when we moved in. Remodeling paying cash as you go takes time. Way more time than you think. But that’s okay. It makes it that much sweeter when it’s finally done.

Back to building the bed. Did you know you can find free plans online to build just about anything you want? That’s how we found plans to build this farmhouse bed. It was made from inexpensive pine boards that I painted a distressed white. The great thing is, it’s made from actual wood and can be refinished over and over again, if desired. And it was a fraction of the cost to build over purchasing a new bed frame.

I have a new style bed I would love to build now. The only problem is, it might take another five years to talk someone in to helping me build a new one when the one we have is perfectly good. Maybe by then the whole bedroom will be remodeled. Fingers crossed.
