SIMPLE DINING TABLE CENTERPIECE TIPS
05/19/2023I used to get a spot in my home just as I liked it and then never changed it. I think I got it from my mom. I can remember her taking pictures of the house before Christmas decor and after Christmas decor. She would then use those photos to put everything in the same place year after year. There is nothing wrong with that but I think it’s safe to say, I’ve outgrown that phase. I love to shop my house and change things up often these days. I tend to go all out for holidays. But now that we’re in a holiday lull for a bit, let’s create a simple dining table centerpiece.
For the final look, I started with an old table runner from Hobby Lobby for a touch of color. Then I layered adding a large tray from Target. Next I mixed three different types of eucalyptus from Trader Joe’s in a vase, added napkins, salt and pepper shakers and finished it off with an air plant. That’s it. Cute but simple. If you look closely you can see the reflection on the wall from my disco mushrooms.
Here are a few tips to help create a simple table centerpiece grouping:
- Decide if you want to use a table cloth or table runner.
- BASE: Start with a tray, flat basket, cutting board, a riser, serving, platter, cake stand or tiered tray.
- GREENERY: It could be fresh flowers, a house plant, tree branches, or faux stems.
- NECESSITIES: Add table necessities like salt and pepper shakers, napkins in a napkin holder or a stack of cloth napkins, a water carafe, sugar bowl, creamer pitcher, a stack of plates and/or bowls, a butter keeper.
- DECOR: Top it off with a touch of decor. Decor could include a candle, candlesticks, a bowl of fruit, artichokes or candy, a cute trinket or tchotchke, a stack of antique books, a string of wooden beads, cordless diffuser, a stack of coasters, etc.
Shop your house and play around with pulling different items together until you get something you like. Then you can leave it forever or change it up again in a month or two. The good thing is, it’s your home. You can do whatever you want. 🙂
