COFFEE POTPOURRI SIMMER POT
02/20/2023I don’t drink coffee but I love the smell of it. A coffee simmer pot offers me the scent of coffee throughout the house without me having to taste it. It’s also a good use of leftover coffee grounds (that I get from my son). I know I’m in the minority when it comes to the coffee community. That just means more for you since I don’t drink it. Yes, I would probably like coffee if I loaded it with sugar and cream but that is the last thing I need to become addicted to so I stay far, far away.
All you’ll need for a coffee simmer pot is 1 cup of leftover coffee grounds, 3 to 6 cinnamon sticks, and 1 to 2 teaspoons vanilla and/or 1 vanilla bean added to a pot of simmering water. I had both vanilla and vanilla beans on hand so I used both. The smell was a sweet coffee scent. If you prefer less sweetness, use only one type of vanilla or omit altogether. Simmer on low and enjoy the coffee scent. Be sure to keep an eye on the water level. If it gets low, add more water to the mixture.
