DIY DRYER BALL SPRAY
01/26/2023It’s still January and I’m still slowly working on my beginning of the year cleaning and organizing around the house. The basement is clean and organized. The pans are clean and seasoned. The countertops are clean and the house smells wonderful. Now I’m on to the laundry. I’ve heard how wool dryer balls can cut down on drying time and are better for your clothes than the chemicals in dryer sheets. So I put wool dryer balls on my Christmas list and Santa made my wish come true. Yes, I’m the age where I get excited for dryer balls in my stocking. Knowing my love of scents, I needed something to replace the scent of the dryer sheets on my clean clothes. There are recipes all over the internet for dryer ball spray. After doing some research, this is what I came up with for my laundry.
A year or two ago I found several little 4 ounce glass spray bottles in the dollar section at Target. One worked perfectly for my dryer ball spray. I love the blush color of the bottle. Bonus that it’s cute! The only other ingredients used were 2 tablespoons witch hazel, 20-30 drops of essential oil and distilled water to fill the bottle. I opted for lemon essential oil but really any scent you enjoy would work.
Now I just spray the dryer balls with my spray and toss them in the dryer with the clothes. Be sure to turn down the level of heat and the length of drying if you’re using dryer balls. It’s not only energy and cost efficient, it also helps cut down on static cling.
The spray works as a room spray, as well. Hide the clean clothes that never got folded in the dryer and spray the dryer ball spray all around the house when unexpected guests arrive. You’re welcome.
