DIY WOODEN BEAD HEART
01/23/2023While cleaning and organizing the basement for our basement remodel, I found the supplies needed to make this cute heart made from wooden beads so why not?
I’m not a huge fan of the natural colored wood so I used pickling white wood stain to make the beads a touch more white. You could also use watered down white craft paint for a similar look. I put the beads into a disposable paper cup, poured the stain into the cup to cover the beads and let them sit about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then I poured the stain back into the can and placed the beads onto freezer paper to allow the stain to dry a bit. Then I dried off each bead completely with a cloth.
For my beaded heart I used 1″ (25mm) and 3/4″ (20mm) wood beads and heavy-duty wire.
I folded a piece of heavy-duty wire in half to make the point of the heart. The heavier-duty the wire, the better the heart stays in a heart shape. I strung equal amounts of the beads on each side, alternating 1″ and 3/4″ beads.
To close the heart I twisted the wire a few times and tucked the ends into the holes of the beads.
Shape into a heart.
I finished off the heart with a chiffon ribbon bow.
I would have liked the finished heart to be a little bigger but I used the supplies I had on hand. I think it turned out pretty cute. And it was quick and easy to make.
