FAVORITE THINGS BULLETIN BOARD
12/12/2024Have you considered a bulletin board full of your family’s favorite things to enjoy each time you pass by?
I got the idea from Jessica Garvin, @jlgarvin on Instagram. She switches her board out each season with family photos, artwork, notes, cards, etc. They are always adorable.
I happened to have an old unopened $6 bulletin board I’d had for years stored in the basement so I made my own favorite things bulletin board.
I wasn’t feeling the natural wood so I gave it a good scuff with sandpaper and added painter’s tape to prep for stain.
Using leftover stain from our floors, I applied it to the raw frame using a clean cloth.
That made it much more to my liking and it only took about 30 minutes start to finish.
When we walk into the house from our garage, the first thing that greets us is the side of the refrigerator. It was the perfect place for my favorite things bulletin board.
I gathered things that make me smile and layered them on the bulletin board. The kids are grown adults now. Their kindergarten Christmas gifts are still displayed each year reminding me how quickly life passes by.
Our first dog when we got married, Sparky, laying in the dining room of our first house, a felted “B” ornament and my favorite glitter star garland.
As the season goes by, I’ll keep adding random things. Then I’ll change it out after the new year and start over again.
It makes me smile. Best $6 project I’ve ever done.
