HOMEMADE NATURAL WEED KILLER
07/08/2024I admit, I was skeptical that an all natural homemade weed killer would work. But I’m here tell you, I think it worked better and faster than any chemical-laden over-the-counter weed killers. I’ll be going the organic homemade route from here on out.
I purchased a 1-gallon sprayer specifically for my homemade weed killer and labeled it with a Sharpie.
For the weed killer I used:
1 gallon 30% Vinegar
1 cup table salt
1 tablespoon dish soap
Using a funnel, I added one cup table salt into the gallon bottle of 30% vinegar and let it dissolve for 30 minutes. (Be sure to use 30% vinegar which is six times stronger than white vinegar used for cooking.) Once the salt had dissolved, I poured the vinegar mixture into the sprayer and added a squeeze of dish soap, about one tablespoon.
I sprayed any weeds growing in the walking paths of my raised garden beds and the wildflower/sunflower/pumpkin patch being careful to not get too close to anything I didn’t want to kill.
In less than 24 hours the weeds in the walking paths of my gardens were D.E.A.D.
To say I’m impressed is an understatement. For under $20 for the gallon concoction (not counting the sprayer that I’ll use over and over again), I sprayed all the unwanted weeds around the property and I didn’t have to worry about any toxic chemicals going into the ground. Color me a believer.
