What does one do when they should be resting in bed while sick? Go out in the 30-degree weather and revamp the front porch for winter, of course.

The porch needed some oomph for the doldrums of winter. I’ve said this before – one simple thing usually sparks an idea for whatever space I’m decorating. In this case, it was a plaid scarf sitting in the closet.

I took an old grapevine wreath and simply tied on the scarf using red ribbon.

I found coordinating plaid pillow covers for the rockers.

For the urns, I removed the bows and ornaments from Christmas then added iced branches and more pine stems for a winter look.

The touch of plaid added the perfect bit of color for the winter.

A little fresh air and a chance to decorate made me feel better if only for 10 minutes.
