Welcome to stop three on this year’s holiday home tour. Today we’re heading inside to the living room. Instead of photographing this room in natural daylight, I attempted to capture it in the evening when the the room becomes magical with the glow of the Christmas lights.
There is nothing better than ending a long day right here in this space at Christmas time.
The stockings are always hung by the chimney with care.
Plants stay in place even at Christmas and are dressed up with a few shiny ornaments.
I still put out the kids grade school Christmas books each year. Ah, memories of when they were little.
Plants here dressed up with star lights. The strand is so long I was able to drape from one side of the fireplace to the other. Love.
Since our main Christmas tree in the adjoining front room is fully loaded with sparkle and holiday trinkets, I opted for a simple, sparse tree next to the fireplace. The “tree stand” is an antique wooden box.
It needed a tree topper so I made a twig star using sticks from the yard and hot glue.
I realize looking at this photo something is missing. The couch needs to be cozied up with festive throw blankets. I’ll be getting on that ASAP.
My great-grandmother’s nativity set is one of my favorite things to put out each year.
It’s a very merry Christmas in the living room and I can’t even imagine taking it all down in a few weeks. I want to live with the magical glow year round.
