Welcome to stop four on this year’s holiday home tour. Today features our daughter’s room.
We moved in to this home as she was graduating high school about to head off to college. At that time, and still to this day, we don’t know how much longer she’ll stay here so updates have been minimal. We did paint the walls and add some wallpaper but that is all that’s been done to her room since we moved in.
In the past she has done her Christmas decor in pretty blush and metallic colors. But this year, she wanted to change things up to a more vintage, collected, Anthropology-inspired look. Something she can take with her when she moves out on her own.
While I do love the collected, more colorful Christmas look, it was a challenge incorporating the new items with the blush items she already had from years past. We typically purchase a couple new things every year so her collection of more colorful, vintage pieces will take time to build upon. This year is more of a meshing of both styles together to make due.
She bought these iridescent glass Christmas trees from the Target Dollar Spot. They are so cute. We paired them on her shelves with some of her old tree picks and I love how it turned out. Very Anthro-inspired, I think.
This is the reading nook area with the hanging chair I still love but I think she wishes we would change out. As soon as I find a new place for it (I’m thinking in the basement once we get that remodeled), I’ll give in and take it down. Until then, I think this area is so cute and cozy. Perhaps it’s me wanting to hang on to my girl’s teen room as long as I can.
Here is her tree with a mixture of previous year’s ornaments and this year’s more colorful new and antique finds. Her vision has inspired me for next year’s basement tree, providing we get that partially started remodel completed by next Christmas. Just the motivation I need!
The right and left ornaments she purchased new this year. The middle ornaments are DIY paint ornaments she made alongside one of her great-grandma’s antique ornaments. And of course, lots of tinsel.
For a half-done room that really needs to be updated to more her style and by combining previous year’s decorations with a new look, I think her room turned out pretty fun for Christmas this year. And now she has the start of a good collection she can take with her whenever she moves on to her own home.
