2023 HOLIDAY HOME TOUR | CHRISTMAS OFFICE
12/20/2023Welcome to stop six on this year’s holiday home tour. Today we visit my office; the place where I spend 80% of my days. I almost skipped out on sharing this room for a variety of reasons.
- This was the first room in the house we touched when we moved in. It began as our son’s room. He picked out the paint colors and the wood wall that was behind his bed. When he moved out, I took over the space for my office and haven’t done any updates since. It serves the purpose just fine though I would like to make it more “me” someday soon. I just don’t know what I want to do so I haven’t done anything.
2. The Christmas decorations are just a hodge podge of things not used elsewhere in the house. We have my tried and true red and green, some things from the maroon Christmas days and, of course, disco balls.
This photo is the epitome of my laziness. Normally I would have removed the heater and the fan at my desk and hidden all the cords for a more aesthetic look. The two old Dell monitors are not pretty but are essential for work from home. I could have put a cute Christmas screen saver on my photo editing monitor to be extra festive. And I should have removed the dog bed. But I didn’t – because I was lazy and exhausted from the Christmas rush. So here is a look at my office in its true form. Not beautiful picture worthy but perfect for what I need.
This was the wall behind my son’s bed. When this became my office, I decided to make it a fun wall of things that make me happy. I change it out for each season/holiday.
Plants because I want them in every room. // Merry + Bright hang sign // DIY disco ball garland // My old stocking growing up // The Santa I painted last year // A corkboard with snapshots of favorite family Christmas memories // Gimme Some Sugar pennant // Our sweet english mastiff, Zoe. Sweetest dog ever. Miss her so much!!
And this is the other side of the room. It reflects a little more of the aesthetic I might want in my office in the future – pretty and sparkly. The giant TV was left from my son’s bedroom. Guys think “the bigger, the better” when it comes to TVs. Women think, smaller and pretty. I see a frame TV in my future.
Because I love to have something sentimental in each room, this is my husband’s grandma’s vintage ceramic Christmas tree. It was chipped in many places and sat in a box for years. I “refurbished” it with a little paint to cover the chips and, to the naked eye, looks perfect once again.
While my office isn’t blog perfect, I hope this shows you that even in the imperfect, joy can be found, especially at Christmas.
